The Christmas Tree that Just Wasn’t to Be…

I drove down to Ponder’s Nursery yesterday for a Christmas tree and it started to pour down rain after I got there.  I told the proprietor I would be back on Monday.  I am now having second thoughts about getting a tree.  I have put up and decorated a tree since I have lived here.

I called dad this morning about my cokes.  I was jonesing for my sugar and caffeine fix.

“I’ll put them out on the porch,” dad said as he was getting ready to leave and go somewhere.

I drove over and there was a plastic sack of dishes on the deck, but no cokes.  I finally got mom to the door and she laughed.

“I can’t believe Johnny put out my dishes instead of your cokes!” she said.

Mom and I got my cokes and I went about my way happy that was resolved.

Good to be able to help Charlie…

I was cleaning up the kitchen after supper last night when I got a phone call.  It was Charlie and he sad he and his wife had a flat tire in her Audi on the was to a Christmas party.

“Where are you?” I asked.

“Where the rock store on the Troup county crossroads,” Charlie told me.

“I will be out there in about thirty minutes,” I told him.

Charlie and his wife were never so glad to see me.  I had the old tire off and the spare on in a matter of minutes. I let Charlie head on to the party in my CR-V and drove the Audi home.

This IS The Fun Part! said...

Good morning, dear!

I, too had thought of not putting up a tree this year - and then after sleeping on it decided that on Christmas Eve I would regret it. So I got the smallest one I could find - put more lights on it than it needed and covered it with ornaments! I'm SO glad I did. The last thing I needed was one more reason to be depressed!!

In other words - get your butt moving - get something decorated in that cozy house of yours - even if it's only a dead branch!

Doesn't it feel great to be able to help a friend in trouble! Glad you were able to "save the day" for Charlie and his wife! What's really nice is that Charlie knew that if he called you his problem would be solved.

Just another reason I'm proud to call you my friend!

Have a great day . . . decorating!

Love,
Grannie

We too hesitated about the tree this year and I finally put up a tiny fake one I'd bought some years ago and put our favorite ornaments on it. It suffices.

You're not much into the blog anymore, are you. I'm wondering what's changed.

Blessings to you, Jonathon.

I saw a little tree of rosemary at Lowe's. That would be a lovely Christmas tree and the aroma is wonderful. Rosemary is a great herb to use in cooking as well. I keep a bush of it all year round.

You are a great friend! You saved what could have been a disaster for Charlie and his wife and turned it into only a brief delay to the party.

I'm so happy to see you back but something has changed about you, what's happened? Maybe you don't enjoy writing like you used to?

I remember when you told your family you wanted a Christmas tree of your own. I remember your excitement. I always hate the idea of decorating my tree. It's a lot of work and I grumble about it. When I actually get the tree up (artificial) the experience of decorating always turns out better than I expect. Still, every year I say I'm not going to do it.

You sound good, Jonathon.

Do put up a tree! Get a Rosemary bush and decorate it then use it in the kitchen the rest of the year. I think you'll like it...

I love the idea of a "Rosemary Christmas Tree" that several readers suggested. Go for it, Andrew. So glad you're back. I wish you a beautiful and Merry Christmas.

For years we had the real tree and I loved the smell of it. Now it is the artificial with white lights. Easy to put together and it is really nice. It does wonders to get the Christmas spirit flowing, the mood is really nice. Get your tree up, Andrew. You will enjoy it when it is up and lit. I believe it will chase any depression away and lift your mood.

Aye, I feel it too. As a blogger I sometimes experience the "blah's"
I get bored with my blog, it feels stale to me and I'm not inspired to write, or too tired to do so.
Hopefully Andrew it will pass. If not well it's nice to know that you are okay. I was really worried about you when you disappeared.
