Sunday night Dad and I were walking into the Piggly Wiggly after getting out of my car. It started to flurry something fierce as we walked across the parking lot. I smiled as he turned to look at me and said. “You love the snow. This ought to make to happy.” It certainly did. It was a beautiful sight to behold although the snow didn’t stick.
I had been over at dad’s all evening hanging Christmas decorations. Dad goes all out every year. Especially since he now has grandkids. The house looked beautiful as we were hanging the last large lighted wreath in the dining room.
“Come on,” dad said as we finished. “We’ll get you some ice-cream and I want tome magazines.
I had told dad the Pig had ice cream on sale for 3 gallons at nine dollars. Dad was interested in some magazines about the royal engagement.
It has been terribly cool here all week. Maggie and Caramel make emergency runs outside to use then bathroom then quickly return inside. It makes me smile. I certainly don’t envy them of having to use the bathroom outside.
Last night, Charlie arrived with fast food and to visit. All the dogs and I were on the couch until I noticed something jet black in Maggie’s mouth. She had captured a bat and Charlie help me get it away from Maggie and out of the house. I worried me all night that that bat would freeze to death and die being injured and in the cold. Dad called me later about it and said that was what makes me so special – my empathy for animals and people in need.

I love those Piggly Wiggly stores...they are not in the North but always an interesting place to shop when we visit the South. Enjoy your day, Andrew.
We are decorated here as well. I am hoping for a warm up soon.
I watch Driving Miss Daisy reruns just to hear the way Morgan Freeman pronounces, "Piggly Wiggly."
OMG! A bat?? How on earth did she catch that? I would have died right there!
I can send you some snow Andrew. We have over 8 inches, temps have remained in the single digits at night. I feed a stray cat and have been worried sick about him/her. Tried to catch it but it's too wild.
Breaks my heart that this poor animal is outdoors in the winter :-(
Andres, you are a kind soul. I would have been screaming my head off with that bat in the house. Our cat saved us from a bat during the night. He was on the bed with us and suddenly he jumped off the bed and ran into the den. We investigated to find that he had captured the bat. He got really high praise from me. We immediately opened the door and allowed our kitty to take the bat out side. I'm with you not wanting to hurt animals. I used to rescue mice from our cats. I just couldn't stand it. The only thing I would not rescue would be a snake. Sorry, I just can't handle them. They cause me to injury myself when I encounter them.
I know it's been really cold for us here in the south, but we are suffering with the cold without any reward--SNOW!
Sir:
I am glad to see you post! You would find it interesting up here, we received 10 inches of snow on Sunday and Monday, and then went into a deep freeze where the temperatures reached a low of -2 Degrees Fahrenheit.
If I may ask sir, you spoke of going into a depression of sorts that eliminated your interest in writing. Might this in any way be a reflection of any changes that may have gone on in your medications? I ask because you were beginning a medication change at the time of your two month departure.
Well, I hope you are having a good time and doing well.

Happy to hear you got a little snow. Too bad it didn't stick at least for a while. I have a feeling that this is gonna be a cold winter for us here in the South - you may end up with some snow before it's all over!
Have you gotten your tree up yet? I remember you gave us pictures last year and it was beautiful!
So glad to hear that you and dad are getting along so well! Warms my little heart!
Stay warm,
Grannie
Sure are glad you are back! My cats bring moths into the house and that's bad enough, can't imagine if one of them had a freaking bat in its mouth! Ack!
wow a bat how scary is that , i would be worried about rabies lol geez you have some fun huh . glad to see you back , all of your posts are so interesting . keep warm and hope you get your snow , you can have some of mine, its very cold here and lots of snow and its only mid december yuck
have a good one and keep warm .:)
Snow??!! Oh so not fair when you are in the south and I'm in the Pacific Northwest. I want snow *pout*. Bats....ehhh, they don't bother me and I'm afraid I would not have much empathy for them. Add spiders to that list as well...and maybe a bee or two....need I go on? :-)
Enjoy your day Andrew.
I love people who go all out decorating. I want to every year, but then it never seems to happy. I am amazed about the bat. We have them here some, but they are creepy to me. You are a good soul to worry about it.
I hate bats. I admit that every time we get a bat in the house, I hide in the bathroom while my husband and son get it out of the house. I love animals, but bats? Yuck!! Not my cup of tea!
nice to see you back. When did you get a second dog? Very happy to hear Maggie (and you) have a new friend. Lucky dog.
A bat colony will keep you free from mosquitos. Welcome the little critters!
I worry right along with you about animals.
I saw a weather report from Birmingham the other day and thought about you. You're just as cold as were are here in DC. We had SNOmg today...again...I hope it's not like it was last year.
Take care Butter Bean.
I forgot how into England you dad was! My dgd is the same way...
