Beyond the Midnight Hour…

“It's snowing!” Jan, the cashier on duty this morning, told me very excitedly after she walked back to my deserted little corner of the store.  She knows my penchant and obsession with snow in the South.

“Do you think they will let us go home early?” Jan asked as we walked together so I could go have a look.

I laughed. Highly unlikely was my reply.

I walked to the grocery side of the store and stuck my head out of the big sliding doors -- letting a big blast of cold air in.  Big, fat and wet snowflakes greeted me.  I’d say we got about 2 inches of the frozen stuff.  Fears started to pop into my mind, though, when I thought about Mrs. Florene trying to drive George to work in this mess. I was relieved when George finally showed up a moment ago for work and his cousin, Monte, had given him a ride.

Stumped…

“Do you know if an Xbox Live player can play online with computer players and Playstation3 players?” a young man asked me at the start of my shift.

I hated to tell the guy I didn’t know, but I was stumped.  I told him I would find out and that was a very good question.

I like these challenges as they keep me on my toes as far as technology and my department go.

God? Please Send Candy!

“Am I buying you too much candy?” mom asked me fretting over the usual suspects this morning

“Where is this going?” I asked.

“I just worry about you getting diabetes,” mom replied.

“Well, just get me two bags instead of four as a compromise if it will make you feel better.” I told her. “I just want my disability to cover those kinds of costs.”

I have gotten to where I call my parents the feel good police.  The good Lord giveth and the good Lord taketh away.

Candy is not going to cause diabetes by itself. You're more likely to get it with a combination of poor diet (too much fat and sugar, not enough fruits, veggies, whole grains), genetic predisposition, high blood pressure/cholesterol, being overweight, smoking, and little or no exercise. Eliminate those factors and you're much less likely to develop diabetes.

Beth is correct, can't get diabetes from too much candy alone, or else I would have had it long ago :-)

I'm happy you finally got some snow. When it's gone let me know, I will send you some of ours. I'm getting pretty tired of it.

Wow, you got snow and it's finally warming up slightly here. I'm happy for a respite from the snow, and maybe some of what's on the ground can melt.
