Thank you all for the suggestion of a crockpot. Why didn’t I think of that? I have a big pot of spaghetti sauce that I just started this afternoon. Spaghetti will be had tomorrow when I get off. I also printed out the recipe suggestions. I am still going to get the dog's sausage biscuits in the morning, though. I think that is a cherished ritual for them that they would hate to see stopped.
This afternoon after I awoke from my morning slumber was spent over at George’s house. I helped him put on new valve cover gaskets on the V8 engine of his Caprice. He had several small oil leaks. George says he is going to sell it so we will wait and see. George has already got several notices from the state about the insurance being out of date. Caprices are all the rage with young black men in town these days so the market is good for selling and George’s Caprice has been babied back into good shape. I know he is going to hate to see it go, but me and Mrs. Florene see it as a temptation he just doesn’t need right now. He has wanted to drive to work several times and we all have to talked him out of making that disastrous decision. One simple fender bender and it would mean back to prison for George.
Last night was a school night I am sure. Imagine my surprise when a small boy walked into my department after eleven.
“Can I play video games?” he asked.
“Where’s your momma?” I asked as I got down on my haunches beside him so I could see his face good.
“She’s buying groceries,” he replied.
I guess it’s none of my business, but that child should have been home asleep on a school night. Things like that worry me and I thought about it for the rest of the night. That is something that my mother despite all her myriad of problems would have never done.
“Who’s the speaker of the house?” Jim asked testing me as he walked up to buy his sandwich early in the morning around three.
“Oh shit!” I exclaimed trying to remember so I could pass Jim’s test. “It’s that guy that cries all the time about everything.”
Jim burst out laughing, shaking my hand.
I had gotten in a discussion with my mother yesterday and asked her why didn’t she homeschool me, my brother and my sister.
“Oh, I wasn’t smart enough to homeschool you all!” she exclaimed.
“But you had a master’s degree in public education!” I replied stymied.
I was telling this to Jim. Jim thought it was best for a young child’s develop for all children be schooled together – that it would help with their socialization skills.

You are so right, that child should have been home in bed asleep for several hours. That is a crying shame.
I have a mini van that needs a new main seal. I bet you could repair that Lowe's Mobile for us. LOL. (Lowe's Mobile, we only drive it to and from Lowe's, which only a three mile roundtrip for us. We don't trust it to drive it many miles from home.)
Enjoy all the recipes.
It's school vacation this week in MA not sure if it is there too.
My mother would also have my sisters and I in bed by 9 PM back in the 70's when I was a kid!
Glad we could help with the crockpot ideas. There are tons of crockpot recipes all over the internet, by the way. You can get a lot of ideas for delicious meals that pretty much cook themselves. Enjoy!
Love my slow cooker, I have a Hamilton Beach that I replaced my Rival with. Works as well or better. Hope it holds up better. I love to make soups and pot roast in it. Hope you love yours as much as I love mine. Makes good shredded bar-b- cue pork. Just season and cook a pork butt in it and throw the sauce on (Sweet Baby Rays) at the end. Pork sandwiches for everyone. I like mine on Texas Toast garlic bread.
