I can see clearly now as to why people can get so completely and helplessly hooked on fast food. It never really entered my lexicon of daily terms for years as I couldn’t buy or afford any. It is just so convenient, economical in the short-term, and the tastes are amplified and compliment each other. This morning found me once again at McDonald’s ordering the dog’s sausage biscuits again and a large “big ass” coke for me to quench my thirst. I looked for Anne again this morning, but she must be working afternoons or nights these days. I haven’t seen her in what seems like weeks. Anne grew up in the school of hard knocks and I just want to be a good friend to her as I have had a few interesting journeys through life myself. You know me and fringe dwelling people. We are like two peas in a pod.
Jack Frost? Again?
We had what I hope is our very last and final heavy frost this morning. The windows on my car were covered with ice and I was glad I had picked up a cheap ice scraper on sale from AutoZone the other week on a whim or was it portending things? It worried me that this cold snap would kill any tender new growth and sprouting buds we’ve had lately, though.
Cheap Thrills or Dangerous Dealings…
I cringed as George said he turned in his AA meeting attendance list the other night after forging the signatures. The repercussions from this could be life altering if George is found out. The Psychologist just said thanks and stuffed it into his briefcase George then told me. Let’s hope we hear no more of that and George’s other shady transgressions. George doing that worried the sh@t out of me, though. I would rather not know about such things from here on out and told George so.
She’s A Heavy Duty Kind of Nuts and Twigs Gal…
My favorite militant Vegan Twitterer was at it again on her soapbox this morning in full force and I just couldn’t resist – resist being a tad bit aggravating and contrary myself. It was like she was taunting me with her Vegan propaganda – a moth to the flame. She’s sick and this has been like the fourth time in as many weeks. I wrote her back that I never get sick and I gobble down the cheeseburgers all day long when she wrote that veganism was healthier. Well, that went over like a lead balloon and I should have known, but it did make me smile from ear to ear at her reaction. She might also want to rethink her food strategy and game plan.
Don’t get me wrong. I’ve known quite a few outstanding Vegans over the years and and they are all fine and upstanding citizens. It’s this one, in your face militant, percent like this woman that aggravate the crap out of me. It is very akin to having a religion of Veganism. I guess I will have to go put a ceremonial bouquet of nuts and twigs at the foot of their altar to atone for my sins and egregious aspersions.

You should watch that movie "Supersize Me" - that might get you out of your Mickey D's habit a bit. ;-)
oh. my. god. but some vegans can be so irritating. they think they are so much better than us carnivores and are so darn preachy about it. kind of like my brother in law who prefaces every statement with 'well, I'm a Christian', vegans are all 'well, I'm a vegan.' and the rest of us are just not worthy.
i refuse to watch that movie. i love mcdonald's!!!!
Poor George, he is his own victim. You tried to set him straight. It is best you don't know what he's up to. McDonald's has the best French fries. I haven't tried Wendy's new (healthier?) sea salt fries.
good to see you again Andrew.. macs fries are the best Hmmm
I think the whole idea that veganism is the healthiest diet is a bit flawed. Sure, it's healthier than the average American diet but that's not a hard diet to beat. And most of us vegans know we have to watch our Vitamin B12, protein, and calcium intakes. So, we probably pay more attention to the food we eat than the average person.
I was waiting for you to start dating Anne! Maybe you should drop in in the afternoon...
I'm a kosher vegetarian. Berryvox is absolutely correct, we need to pay close attention to what we eat, least we become anemic. My dad stayed with me for two weeks last month and complained the entire time about what I ate. The day he left he admitted he had lost 7 pounds and was sleeping better :p I eat the way I do for religious/health reasons. I say to each his own. What ever makes you happy.
Sir:
Although I am not vegan (I am not exactly a "carnivore" either, as I eat chicken or turkey perhaps two or three times a week... I must say that a whole helluva lot of the vegan entrees I have had are absolutely wonderful tasting and something I do look forward to having when I find such meals.
You are right, of course, that militant behavior of any sort (such as apparently exhibited by the vegan you describe) is foolish, useless and utterly tiresome. Co-existance is the key to success. Everyone should be able to do pretty much as they please as long as it does not infringe significantly upon others.

I agree with Pipe Tobacco..each to his own, im neither a Vegan, Veggie or strictly Carnivore. I just enjoy certain foods from all these catagories, i have a strict vegetarian friend ( who borders on veganism much of the time & some of her foods are really lovely)...and i do LOVE the occasional McDonalds..I feel that makes me a pretty satisfied eater..I do feel sorry (genuinely)for folk who get themselves all steamed up over only eating certain things...but thats their chice i suppose.
Sorry to hear about George what a disappointment...i understand how you feel you dont want to hear about his escapades at the moment.
By the way The weather here as been wonderful for almost two weeks...ive got my patio door open and sunshine is pouring in at the moment...BUT..it was feezing only about 2 weeks ago..so strange, hope you get better days soon Andrew...im sure the dogs will enjoy it.
