I am getting a much better and sounder sleep sleeping at night instead of the day. Recently, I’ve had a little trouble with insomnia and now I am asleep moments after my head hits the pillow. This alone has been so nice and a welcomed addition in my daily life. The dogs seem to be enjoying having me around all the time as well. That will change next Monday when I start my volunteer position, but Charlie is hinting that I will be volunteering around 4 hours a day. So the dogs won’t be left alone all night to raise hell, drink beer, and play video games while I am gone.
A Good Swift Kick in the Ass…
Is what I need… I am lamenting the fact I lost my job today. Electronics is my forte and until I got sick again, I think I did a pretty darn good and awesome job. I understand that they need someone who comes into work on time and is coherent so I bid adieu to Wally World. It is still a bitter pill to swallow, though. It is the first time I have ever been fired in my life.
I also prayed with every fiber of my being that I wasn’t mentally ill – that all these countless medications were the culprits. I always had to learn my lessons the hard way – always have and I always will. Dad has been known to say my noggin is three inches thick.

I don't know why you didn't take a medical leave of absence. I'm sure your doctor would have backed you up or write a letter on your behalf. Have you thought of approaching them (Walmart) to get your job back? With a letter in hand and your work history, it might help....just a thought!
Perhaps Diana is right about approaching them. I like to take the direct route whenever possible. Also, if you are interested, I think some disability rights advocates would be willing to take on your case as it clearly violates several tenets of the ADA.
Focus on the positive. You've come a long way!!!
Big hug,
Jane
Sleep is good. :)
Sir:
I think the idea of asking for a medical leave *is* a good one if you would like to be back there working... it is at least worth considering.
As for the medications... I whole heartedly support your taking medications that YOUR mental health physician deems worthwhile and appropriate for you to take. That said, I am strongly *hoping* that you are only taking medications that YOUR mental health physcian prescribes, and not other medications that may be given or forced to you by anyone who is not your mental health physician... even if the person's intentions are good. I think if you take only those medications prescribed by your mental health physician you will then find a very happy, workable "medium" and avoid the pitfalls of overmedication and undermedication.

Maybe I missed it, but where is your volunteer position?
I worked the nights for 16 months with three weeks off. Three weeks after I quit I had a minor heart attack - no, the other, "normal", risks did not work in this case. Nightwork is unhealthy and messes up all and anything. You'll find a work that suits you on daytime. BTW what about the gardens?
Ditto to Pipe's comment.
Under the ADA you might quality for a reasonable accommodation. If not, then there is FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) that you can request up to, I think 12 weeks, of unpaid leave for medical issues. This need would have to be documented by your physician. This is 12 weeks per calendar year.
You cracked me up about the dogs misbehaving while you are gone. Also, what's with that photo?! :-)
Diana has some good advice. I am not sure but I would think you have some protections under the Americans with Diablities Act and that your firing was not entirely legal.
Good luck with what ever you decide is right for you. Remember that you were looking for a job when you found the last one and can do it again.
Completely off the subject!!
So you got this new, great camera - and this new, great Caramel! Are you aware that you've never really introduced us to her??? How about some pictures of the girls?
I'm such a nag!!
Love,
Grannie
The above comments are right about FML and ADA. Look into it!
The FMLA doesn't have to be taken all at once, it can be used intermittently as needed when properly documented from your physician.
I agree with Pipe Tobacco, follower your own doctors medication regiment..When you were on your fathers regiment you were a zombie..Over medication is worse then no medication...
