“Sweetheart, we can’t go for our walk,” I told Maggie who forlornly sat at my feet looking up early this morning. Maggie had made it to the front door looking up at the leash sitting on top of the piano. “We don’t walk when it’s raining so heavy. We'll both get pneumonia.”
It was raining especially heavy well before dawn. It was hard to get out of that warm bed to that comforting white noise outside into a very chilly bedroom to get in the shower. Poor Maggie, she looked just like a child whose parents told them that Santa was dead or their Christmas has been cancelled. I compensated by cooking Maggie and I a good hearty breakfast.
I was sitting there at my kitchen table eating a piece of very crispy bacon as Maggie wolfed down her food. Maggie wanted my leftovers as well. Then the rain suddenly stopped like someone flicked a switch. I waited about 30 minutes and then Maggie and I were on our way after I washed the dishes. Dad kept me up so late last night that I was constantly yawning during this morning’s walk, though.
A Day That Just Wasn't Going to be…
I just have left the hospital about half an hour ago. Mom is getting a colonoscopy. I was glad to see dad sitting the the waiting room when I arrived. I mainly just wanted to see if my mother is okay. A show of support if you will.
“What do you say about your mother and her healthcare?” Dad asked me in the waiting room down the hall as I sat down beside him.
“My mother is a health care insurance company's worst nightmare,” I replied.
Dad chuckled and grinned. “That about sums it up! She'll have every and any medical test that is suggested to her by a doctor. There is no leaf left unturned.”
