The Express Route to Stave Off Hunger…

imagesMy most favorite day of the week is here.  Grocery day.  I know I have written that a thousand times over this past few years, but it truly is a time of excess, abundance, and complete satiation and satisfaction. By the end of the week, I am running seriously low on staples and other foods.

Mom surprised me when she called me earlier from the beauty shop and told me that we need to change things around some. Usually this sends my mother into a fiery tailspin and crash back to Earth – this deviation in our routines. It can certainly get this restless native stirred up as well. She can be so set in her own ways just like me. Sometimes, I think we are joined at the hip.

“Like what?” I asked my mother extremely apprehensively.

“You need more vegetables, fruits, and less of all those TV dinners, sugary cereals, and hotdogs,” she replied. “Your father says you need to eat more nourishing food.”

Dads been looking at the receipts every week to see what I have been eating. Mom and I manage to keep it around $75 dollars a week.

This is going to be interesting. It looks like I am going to be doing some cooking this week.  I sincerely hope she doesn’t get a lot of food I will never eat. Only time will tell. Also, healthy food is expensive food as well. I wonder how far my dollars will stretch. Oh, I am already missing my Twinkies and a cold glass of whole milk.

Hopefully you were able to agree on a shopping list that included healthy foods and some of the treats you love as well! We know from past posts that you can cook, so I hope she brings things you enjoy making!

Oh, this makes me so happy! Yes, you can eat healthy and wonderful foods inexpensively. I know you can cook--get out that crockpot and makes something delicious. You won't starve.
