Shall We Down a Few Margaritas?

margarita‘”Let’s go to Red Lobster,” mom said after we left Connie’s Soft Tissue Therapy and Sports Medicine. “I want another one of those margaritas if you don’t mind.”

Once again Mom got a bit goofy and silly today imbibing in some spirited drinks.  She told our waiter that he was cute. I ate a hamburger at Red Lobster and I think I committed a carnal sin in certain circles.  Well, I was planning on Niffer’s which is one of the better burger places in the Valley.  The Red Lobster “smoked woodhouse” burger turned out to be one of the best burgers I have had in ages. Mom splurged and indulged in a slice of their strawberry cheesecake which was divine. She had seafood stuffed flounder as her main entrĂ©e.

“What should I tip him?”  my mother whispered to me as if it were some kind of clandestine operation.

“Just double the tax amount,” I told her whispering back. “That’s what I always do.”

Mom about fell into the Lobster tank on the way out.

All of this so intrigues my father.  My mother and I were like oil and water when I was a younger man.  Dads says the big reason we get along these days is that we are well medicated. He gets a big harrumph out of me when he says that.

Afterwards, Mom and I ran by Best Buy for me to covet their merchandize for a few moments. We then went to the book store to pick up the next installments of the series of books my mother is reading.  The Clan of the Cave Bear series which I vaguely remember reading.

It's nice that you're now able to take your Mom to different places, and not have that overwhelming anxiety that you used to have. I think it's because you and your Mom are so close and you enjoy your time together. Cherish while she's still here, because those are the memories you'll want to hold on to. I can tell you two love each other very much. A bond between a mother and son is a very special thing.
